Description

Happy Birthday Benito Juarez!!

The Claude C. Ries Chapter of the American First Day Cover Society gathers every Spring for a Mexican-themed 'TacoFest' social get-together.  In 2004 the party fell on the March 21 birthday of Benito Juarez, "the Mexican Lincoln".  It was also the day of the Spring Equinox.

Cartoonist and cachetmaker Dave Bennett depicted a delighted Juarez being served tacos by the gracious madre y presentadora of this party since it's inception in 1999 -- TacoFest hostess Shirley Ulling.

The cover is franked with two plate number singles to make the first class rate -- a 4¢ Lincoln of 1954 and the 33¢ Cinco de Mayo of 1999.  They are tied by a blue hand cancel from the Burbank Main Post Office, just a couple of miles from Shirley's casa de la consumición!!

Shipping, handling & postage are completely
