LadyBugs and Wasps -- Oh, My!!

Bugs may not have a very long life in the short summers of Iceland, but there are plenty around

to enjoy what bit of warm weather there is! Among the four species of wasps found in Iceland

is the Norwegian Wasp, first discovered there in the summer of 1980.

There are two species of ladybeetles in Iceland, the Eleven-dotted Ladybeetle being the predominant one.

Cartoonist and cachetmaker Dave Bennett shows his customary Puffin character tryin to fit in with the bug population and make friends!

This handcolored Puffin Cachet FDC bears both stamps in this set (Scott #1089 & 1090),

and two nice strikes of the Reykjavík pictorial first day of issue cancellation that shows a wasp nest.

This particular cover is #5 from an edition of 10.
