Iceland's Glaciers

In May of 2007 Iceland issued five stamps with dramatic views of glaciers found on that island nation,

and at the same time released a souvenir sheet

that combined the five differently-sized stamps.

Depicted on the sheet are the glaciers Snaefellsjökull, Öraefajökull,

Langjökull, Jökulsárlón and Hofsjökull.

Glaciers cover 11% of iceland's surface!

Cartoonist and cachetmaker Dave Bennett has depicted a Puffin (mascot of his Puffin Cachets line of FDCs)

climbing to the top of a windswept glacier to plant the Icelandic flag!

This handcolored cover is franked with the glacier souvenir sheet and bears three nice cancels of the May 24, 2007 pictorial cancel from Reykjavík depicting a snowflake.

The cachet is handcolored and is marked on the reverse as cover #2 of only 5 made.
